We had fish and (cod), prawns, calamari, scallops. I'd rather have the cod a little thicker but still the best cod in contra costa county. Reasonably priced.
Family, casual dining, kid friendly. Light batter, not greasy
Nice portions
Establishment extremely clean -

A friend was working in Ellinwood, so we came for lunch. There was just one other guest eating-in, so we decided to dine-in as well.
I got the special of the day - 1 fish & 4 prawns for $9.99. The breading was nicely crisp, though a bit bland. Thank goodness for Malt Vinegar. Also, their cocktail sauce was a flavor savior - tangy with just a touch of spice, really nice. Friend opted for the Catfish Strips plate - 2 pieces for $11.99. It was way overpriced. The breading was hard, but nicely seasoned; though the tartar sauce was boss. Our total with two drinks was nearly $30.
As we were leaving, one other party came in. They seemed to be regulars.
Overall my experience was okay... The owner was super sweet and attentive. He shared with us that he trained in England and has been at it for 30 years. The cashier/server (his son, perhaps) was helpful, too. Since I don't live or work in the area, this may be my only visit, but it's a convenient little neighborhood eatery. -

Pretty good, everything just needed more salt. I had the fish and clam special and an order of hush puppies. The clams were the only thing with flavor. With added salt and tartar sauce overall I enjoyed the meal. The hush puppies were the only thing I wasn't a fan of. The consistency was a bit off and they were overly oily.

We were looking for a fish restaurant and Tugboat came up with lots of good reviews, so off we go to give it a try. The location is a bit of the beat and path but we easily found it. The special of the day was the fish, prawns and fries. We placed our order, staff was very friendly and after a few minutes our food was brought out to us. The taste of the food was amazing. They use clean oil for it to taste this good. The condiments offered made the food taste even better. If you want fish n chips this is the best place the area. Highly recommended.

This is a small establishment that has great food! I love myself some good fish and chips and this place fit the bill! The fish batter is made fresh before the fish is dipped in it. I can't say enough about the flavor of the fish and the batter. My recommendation would be to just give it a try. They have a special called prawns and fish and I do recommend that dish.
